A Manly walk with Chris...

Hi everyone, this has been a bit of a strange week. We had a bad start when I found out that I needed to get transcripts from my degree which can only be ordered from my universities back in England. This has meant that my teaching application has been put on hold until these arrive. But...after a bit of a stress and some help from my amazing mother...now to be known as Super Mum for ever more!! this is on its way. But it has changed the course of our trip a bit. Whilst in the middle of this stress I sent off some applications to go and work on an equestrian yard. We had quite a bit of response but we have accepted two of them and the first one starts next Tuesday! And its in Melbourne... We are both very excited, probably me more as it means I will be able to ride again. So we have spent a lot of this week sorting that out. We did manage a day with Chris in between though. As we had been talking about the 10km coastal walk for a couple of weeks now we decided to take him. It was much easier this time and it felt alot quicker although it was 31 degrees so we weren't completely comfortable. At the end we ran for the beach and straight into the sea.... and managed to get the only part of the sea that we were not allowed to swim in as there were really strong currents....it was not long before we had lifeguard assistance...well, actually... he shouted at us from the beach...whoops...spot the English tourists yet again...!!

It was a really beautiful day and great to be outside. Yesterday we had a rest day and after getting some jobs done in the morning we headed for the botanical gardens and found a large tree to sit under and read our books in the sunshine...ahh..it was bliss.I don't feel quite so bad about having a lazy day as next week we will be up at the crack of dawn and working hard in the heat! While we were sitting there we even made a friend!! He was very funny and I'm sure he was smiling at us...what do you think? We have also posted some pictures of the botanical gardens for you. It can be really easy to forget how lovely this place is when you see it alot. When we have been for runs we always come through here, but today we stopped and actually took some pictures. Its really hard to believe that you are in the middle of the city surrounded by all this green!
It was the start of the Chinese New Year yesterday...the year of the tiger! There were food markets set up in Sydney and a weekend of activities... we headed down to have a look, but it wasn't much fun in the rain...yes it has returned! We just got back and it poured down!!! Speaking about chinese New Year, well done to my nephew Thomas... he got a class merit for his project on this...and he is only 5 years old!!! I am a very proud Auntie...well done you super star!!!!

  1. not quite sure how to use this but am trying to say just how great it all looks and what a time you seem to be ahving. I hadn't realised just how much Nigel looks like Giles - it's quite surprising that the similarities are so strong. We will be in Australia from April 5th for two weeks up in the Cairns area. Will you be going up for the wedding? Keep in touch - I hope to follow your blog.
    Much love (and hello Gemma)
