Hi everyone. As you know we have packed up our lives for two years and are off to Sydney and the sunshine. We are hoping to find work and travel but if all else fails we will be back! We hope that you will keep in touch and add comments to our blog.

A Melbourne Birthday Barndance....

We were invited to a birthday party this week and the theme was country and western so we all had to be in fancy dress. The girl who invited us, Olivia, was celebrating her 21st birthday and she keeps her horse Triggered at the yard where we are working. I tried to get away with the lame excuse of only having normal clothes as we were travelling....but with a house full of hats and boots and potential dress up clothes I had no where to escape! In the photos you can see cowboy Nigel wild boy of the West, Mona, cowgirl from Deutschland and me the worst cowgirl ever! I can't even line dance without standing on my own feet!! Oh well....

We were all pretty excited as this was the first time we had left the yard since we arrived...freedom!! and new people to meet. As you can see Nigel was quick to get into character with straw in his mouth....!! When we arrived we realised we were on Pin Oack Cresent....that won't mean anything to anyone but Chris and Kath from our last trip to Melbourne...Oh yes guys we went back!!! ( Last time we came to Melbourne we got the address wrong in the sat nav and instead of arriving at Ramsey Street, the set of Neighbours, we ended up on a normal street!!) The only difference this time was that we met a girl called Tanya who was in Neighbours for six episodes and she keeps her horse at the yard! The party was lots of fun and Olivia had pretty much taken everything from the yard to decorate the hall....even her horses hay!! We all wanted to have a go on Boris the mechanical bull, but..... after about 5 goes he died... it was very sad... a jockey managed to outride his bucking and when he tried to go faster it was all too much....RIP..Boris the mechanical bull, you will be missed. We had to amuse ourselves with some line dancing and watching the kareoke instead. You can see us both getting our groove on...with handcuffs on...not entirely sure where they came from, I thin k it was from someones costume but it made sure that the two worst dancers stayed together and didn't injure anyone else!

Little did we know, this was a birthday party with a difference. Olivia turned 21 and announced that she was going to shave all her hair off!!... no she hadn't completely lost her mind, there was reason behind her madness.. her cousin had died 2 years ago and she was fund raising for cancer research. Its stranbge because we have all got used to her short hair now. Anyway, this was a really fun evening and we got to make lots of new friends which has helped us settle in well. It came at a price though as we only returned home at 1.30am and had to be up at 6.30am the next day to take Nika the other German girl to the airport and to do morning feeds...needless to say we all slept soundly the next evening!
