Hi everyone. As you know we have packed up our lives for two years and are off to Sydney and the sunshine. We are hoping to find work and travel but if all else fails we will be back! We hope that you will keep in touch and add comments to our blog.

Riding, riding and more riding....

Since we have been here there has been plenty of opportunity for riding which has been fantastic. Mona and I have been working with Koko and Ciel and gettin g them ready for riding, we have been spending weeks just lunging them and now it is time to get in the saddle. Both horses have been wokring hard to learn how to do what their rising is telling them but that doesn't mean that we are not having fun too...as you can see Mona is giving Ciel an education in how to create the perfect smile for the camera!!

I was riding the horse on the left but he has a bad back and began rearing which at 18 hands high is quite scary. Nigel has also decided that if you can't beat them, join them and has been in the saddle a couple of times even beginning to trot which is really good. I don't think he is a convert to the horse world just yet though but you can see him on cheeky Roxy.

I have also been lucky enough to have a riding lesson from the coach of the Belgium Olympic showjumping team which was very generous of the yard owners Bec and Dave. The horse I was riding was very happy that night though and was very difficult to settle down to get and jumping done but it was good to have some pointers... alot more persistence needed with him I think!

We have also been to watch a few of the livery girls at competitions as you can see Mona was very happy with her clear round with Dawn and Amy and Auryn are beginning to form a great partnership and attended their first outing since she bought her. Also you can see their fan club who came along to support them......us!!

It was a good day but ended with one of Melbournes biggest storms in the afternoon, we all got caught out in it trying to rug the horses and I don't think I have ever sen rain like it! A whole months rain fell in 19 minutes!!! But the best things about rainfall is the rainbow at the end of it....some stunning pictures.

  1. All is well back home, Pepper is coming on nicely with some training. No need for a lead now on the back hills. She still gets really excited near the school though.
Thomas fell out with Holly his girlfreind today and is a bit heart broken, a few choice words from his dad on playing the field and he was okay......By playing the field i mean kicking a football about instead of chasing girls.

  3. Hey there Gemma. Just had a read of your blog. Glad you are enjoying yourself! Have you found teaching work or are you going to be relaxing and taking in all the Australian beauty?

We are still in Marrakech, but will be moving on at the end of the school year. Probably Taiwan, but some time chilling in Canada and the States first.
